Delete your LarkRide account
You can close your LarkRide account yourself, at any time, from inside the app. If you cannot open the app, you can ask us to do it for you on this page.
Delete it in the app
- Open LarkRide and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read what will happen, enter your password and tap Continue.
- Press and hold the red Hold to delete my account button for two seconds. If you let go early, nothing happens.
It happens straight away. We ask for your password so that nobody else can close your account for you. If you have forgotten it, use Forgot password on the sign-in screen first.
Only want a break? Choose Deactivate account instead. It hides your account and deletes nothing. When you want it back, sign in again and it switches on by itself.
What we delete
- Your name, which becomes “Former user”, and your email address, which is then free to use again.
- What you wrote on trips: the messages and pins you sent. The comments left with star ratings go too, yours and the other person’s.
- The details of your trips: addresses and labels, notes, who a parcel was for and what it was, a child’s name and the school times. The pickup and drop-off pins are blurred to about a kilometre.
- Your phone alerts, your last position and the connection details of your calls.
- The parcel photos you took.
- If you drive: your application, including your photo, ID, licence, registration certificate and car photos, any car-change requests, and your car and number plate details.
Money left in a driver’s wallet
If you drive, anything left in your wallet when you delete your account is lost for good. We cannot pay it out or give it back, and the app tells you the amount before you confirm. If you would rather not lose it, use it up on trips first, or choose Deactivate account instead, which keeps it until you come back.
What we keep
Some records have to stay, either because the law or the books need them or because another person still needs them.
- The money records: each fare and its date, the commission taken from a driver’s wallet, and the top-ups into it. They carry no name.
- Your trips, as part of the other person’s history: dates, distances, fares and star ratings, with “Former user” where your name was. What the other person wrote in the chat stays too.
- That a call took place, and when. Calls are never recorded.
- Safety reports, what we decided about them, and the notes our admin wrote while looking into a report or checking a driver.
- If you drove: a record that a welcome credit was given (with the car’s number plate) and that you accepted the driver promise, so that a credit cannot be claimed twice.
- If you drove and your badge had been removed or your application turned down: the car’s number plate stays on our list of plates to check. Your name does not.
- Anything you wrote to us through the contact form on this website (your name, email address and message). It is not part of your account, so deleting the account does not remove it. We keep it as long as we need it to answer you and to keep a record of what was said. You can ask us about it through the same form.
Once your account is deleted it cannot be brought back, and signing in again will not do it. You are welcome to start a new account, with the same email address if you like.
When we cannot delete it yet
The app tells you in plain words if something is in the way. The usual reasons are a trip that is booked or under way, a parcel that could not be delivered and is not yet confirmed back, a top-up or payment that is still being settled, an application, car change or appeal that is waiting for an answer, or an open report about one of your trips. Once that is sorted out you can try again, or contact us and we will help.
Cannot open the app? Ask us
First try signing in at app.larkride.com from any browser, on any phone or computer. If you have forgotten your password, use Forgot password there, then follow the steps above.
If you still cannot sign in, tell us the email address of your account and we will take it from there.
What happens next
- We write to the email address on the account to check that the request is yours. We never delete anything on the strength of this form alone.
- When you reply to confirm, we delete the account exactly as described above, usually within a few days and always within 30 days.
- We tell you when it is done.
Anything we cannot delete yet, for the reasons listed above, we will explain in our reply.
